CCBs under state purview, Governor must order probe: Anbumani Ramadoss

Anbumani Ramadoss urged Governor to order an investigation into the issue as the cooperative banks come under the purview of state government.

Chennai: PMK leader and Dharmapuri MP Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday urged Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to order an investigation into the issue as the cooperative banks come under the purview of state government.

“The income tax department and Reserve Bank of India are already probing into the issue of deposits made using demonetised notes in the state’s district central cooperative banks. After the investigations, actions will be initiated against the officials. Since these banks come under the control of state government, several bogus accounts were opened to deposit black money in it. Hence the Governor and Chief Secretary should order an inquiry,” Dr Anbumani said in a statement.

Income tax department officers have undertaken a state-wide exercise to check whether there was any illegal transfer of funds in co-operative banks following reports that a large amount of demonetised notes have been deposited in some branches of the co-operative banks.
