TRS to make a strong pitch for paddy procurement in Parliament

Winter session to begin on Nov. 29

Hyderabad: After hitting the streets twice this month demanding the Centre to procure paddy from Telangana in rabi, the ruling TRS is all set to raise the issue of paddy procurement in Parliament.

The winter session of Parliament is set to commence on Monday and the party wants to utilise the session to step up pressure on the Centre to procure paddy from Telangana in rabi.

TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will hold the party's parliamentary meeting on November 27 where he will guide MPs on the strategy to be adopted in both Houses of Parliament during the winter session.

The TRS has nine members in Lok Sabha and seven in the Rajya Sabha. Rao wants them to strongly pitch their case. He also wants the party MPs to raise their voice against the electricity amendment bill, which imposes restrictions on power subsidy to farmers.

The TRS leadership wants to utilise the upcoming Parliament session to take up issues concerning the state, especially the promises made to Telangana in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, which remain unfulfilled even after seven years of the state’s formation.
