Telangana top performer in PM SVANidhi

The PM held a PRAGATI video conference with chief secretaries of all states to review progress in rural housing and PM SVANidhi.

HYDERABAD: Telangana government has been lauded for being the topmost performer in implementation of Prime Minister Street Vendors’ Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi).

Ministry of housing and urban affairs secretary Durga Shankar Mishra has informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Telangana has stood first in identification, disbursement and providing of bank loans to street vendors.

The PM had on Wednesday held a PRAGATI video conference with chief secretaries of all states to review the progress achieved in rural housing, public grievance redressal, various infrastructure projects and PM SVANidhi.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was informed that 5,88,099 street vendors had been identified in Telangana and 4,29,250 loan applications uploaded, which is 72 per cent of the total identified vendors in the state. 3,07,279 loans have been sanctioned and 1,76,628 of them already disbursed in the state.

A mobile application has been developed with which all street vendors can be surveyed within three months’ time. A quick survey conducted found that there has been a 602.91 percent increase in the number of street vendors.

Chief secretary Somesh Kumar explained during the meeting that the state government has also tied up with digital payment aggregators like Phone Pe, Bharath Pe, Paytm, Airtel Payment Bank, Pay Swift and so on for generation of UPI IDs and issue of QR code to street vendors.

Principal secretary (Municipal Administration and Urban Development) Arvind Kumar, Principal secretary (Finance) K. Ramakrishna Rao, principal secretary (Industries) Jayesh Ranjan, secretary (Agriculture) Janardhan Reddy, secretary (Panchayat Raj and Rural Development) Sandeep Kumar Sultania and other senior officers participated in the conference.
