Vijayawada: Reports about Telugu Desam official spokesman Pattabhiram leaving for Maldives have raised eyebrows as many are wondering how he could do so when he is on conditional bail.
The social media was agog with reports saying the TD leader was heading for the Maldives “to escape from fresh trouble” as a complaint against him was lodged with the police at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram for “use of words demeaning the lifestyle of fishermen.”
Telugu Desam sources said Pattibhiram might have gone underground soon after his release on bail from central jail in Rajamahendravaram.
City police said Pattabhiram was booked under several IPC sections dealing with promoting enmity, causing public mischief, provoking breach of peace, criminal conspiracy etc, but there was no need to impound his passport or restrict him from moving out of the country.
The TD leader’s legal counsel said the AP high court granted him bail with no curbs on his movement.
Pattabhiram was arrested after he made allegedly abusive remarks against Chief Minister Jagan on October 20. Subsequently, he was produced before a local court, which in turn sent him to judicial remand in Central Jail at Rajamahendravaram for 14 days. However, as he moved the high court for bail, it granted him conditional bail, following which he was released from jail on October 23.
