Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran CPM leader and former chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan, was admitted to a private hospital here on Friday after he reported high blood pressure. He is now the chairman of the Administrative Reforms Committee.
He turned 96 last Sunday. According to sources close to him, his BP was erratic of late. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited him at the hospital. It is learnt that he will be put under observation for three days.
A seven-time legislator, he currently represents the Malampuzha constituency in Palakkad. He campaigned for Thiruvana-nthapuram mayor V.K. Prasanth for the Vattiyoorkavu bypoll.
