TD leader alleges YSRC gagging public in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: District president of Telugu Desam (TD) and former Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao alleged on Monday that the YSRC government was gagging the public and prohibiting people from speaking out against the government.

Addressing a press conference in Visakhapatnam, Srinivasa Rao said the government was not even allowing TDP workers to take out a peaceful rally to protest against the arrest of their leader Chandrababu Naidu.

“The police personnel are almost at every doorstep of TD workers watching every movement of party workers,’’ he said. He said it was undemocratic on the part of the government to deny permission to hold a candle rally. On Sunday evening, the police arrested TD Mahila workers who planned a rally at RK Beach near NTR statue.

Srinivasa Rao also alleged that the police were becoming overenthusiastic in arresting TD workers in order to get plum postings and promotions.

“We will file private cases in the court against some police personnel for their aggressive behaviour,’’ the TD president said. He said people did not vote for YSRC in Visakhapatnam where TD won four Assembly segments in the 2019 elections.

Srinivasa Rao said their leader Naidu would come out clean and work towards dislodging the YSRC government in the next elections.
