Raipur: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that the “Hindustan government” is not run by MPs or MLAs but by the bureaucracy.
Speaking at the ‘Awas sammelan’ at Takhatpur in Bilaspur district under Chhattisgarh, organised by the state government, Mr Gandhi said that bureaucracy framed all government policies and ran the government.
“The Hindustan government is not run by MPs or MLAs but by the bureaucrats. Ninety bureaucrats are framing government policies”, he said.
Mr Gandhi laid emphasis for conducting caste census to ensure development of all sections of society.
A caste census is like the X-ray of India and it would help us understand how many OBCs, tribals and individuals from the general category are there in the country, he said adding that once the data is known, the nation can move forward inclusively.
Recognising the need for increased women’s participation in all sectors, he said, “Conducting a caste census is essential for the participation of all”.
Mr Gandhi said that the Bhupesh Baghel government has fulfilled all the promises Congress had made before the 2018 assembly polls.
The state Congress government has halved the electricity bill, ensured a fair price for paddy and provided unemployment allowances to 1.30 lakh unemployed youths.
Under the ‘Kisan Nyay Yojana’, the government has disbursed input subsidies amounting to Rs 21,000 crore to the farmers in the state. Landless farmers have also received Rs 7,000 annually as financial assistance.
Besides, the government has ensured fair prices for minor forest produce to benefit the tribals.
Chhattisgarh Gramin Awas NYAY Yojana was launched by the state government on the occasion.
Under the scheme, house sanction letters were distributed to 33,000 beneficiaries.
Mr Gandhi later travelled to Raipur from Bilaspur by train in sleeper coach and interacted with the passengers in the train.
He left for Delhi from Raipur by flight.
