Farmers in TS living with honour since KCR became CM: Pocharam

There was a time when leaders used to fear stepping into villages, as farmers would question them about shortage of power and water

KARIMNAGAR: Telangana Legislative Assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy declared that farmers of the state are leading a respectable life after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has taken over the state and made available ample electricity and water.

Addressing a Reddy Atmeeya Sammelanam in Jammikunta after laying foundation stone for a Reddy community building at Huzurabad in Jammikunta mandal of Karimnagar district on Saturday, the speaker said there was a time when leaders used to fear stepping into villages, as they were afraid that farmers would question them about shortage of power and water. This is no more the case after Telangana has been achieved under the leadership of CM KCR, he said.

Apart from Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, a battery of TRS leaders were present at the function in Huzurabad constituency, including ministers T. Harish Rao, Sabitha Indra Reddy, S. Niranjan Reddy, G. Kamalakar and Koppula Eshwar, apart from Rythu Bandhu Samithi president Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, MLC.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Niranjan Reddy said former minister Etala Rajendar, may be older than TRS party candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav in the Huzurabad by-poll. Yet, Srinivas is senior to Rajendar, as he joined the party in 2001 and participated actively in separate Telangana movement.

Niranjan Reddy said CM KCR gave Rajendar recognition and power. By joining BJP and attacking KCR, Rajendar has revealed his true colours. People should thus elect Srinivas Yadav in the coming by-polls and soundly defeat Rajendar, he underlined.

Pocharam Srinivas Reddy pointed out that Telangana government is implementing several welfare schemes for various sections of people in the state. BJP government is present in many states. Has it introduced schemes like those in Telangana, he asked.

Niranjan Reddy said after 70 years of India getting independence, Narendra Modi gave a call for Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao. But in 1950 itself, son of Palamuru region, Kotwal Venkatram Reddy had established Reddy Hostel in Hyderabad, so that all sections of students could study.
