KCR always on poll-mode, says Mohammed Ali Shabbir
Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and former Leader of Opposition in the Legis-lative Council, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's “inability to think beyond elections” was causing huge damage to Telangana state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said, “KCR only wants to win elections and does nothing for the people. While politicians in a democracy are to serve the people, KCR apparently follows a new definition. He always remains in the election-mode and just wants to win all polls at any cost. This selfish approach has badly hit the process of development and welfare of common people.”
Mr Ali pointed out that within hours after the release of notification for by-elections in Huzurnagar Assembly constituency, Mr Rao held a review meeting, appointed an election in-charge for the TRS and directed all ministers, legislators and party leaders to focus on winning the seat. He said that the Chief Minister, however, had no time to hold a review meeting even after nearly 55 lakh people contracted viral infections in the past three months and several people, including children, died of dengue fever.
The Congress leader said that the reduction in health budget by over 60 per cent was unprecedented and no state in the country ever resorted to such an extreme step which would affect the lives of common people. “While the health minister is silent on the dearth of funds for his department, the Chief Minister did not mention dengue deaths or viral diseases in his speeches. They are trying to cover up the government's failures by making political statements,” he said.
