The election observers will move in after nominations are filed for both the seats.

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Mr. Satyabrata Sahoo, said here on Wednesday that so far eight cases have been booked for
violation of rules concerning pasting posters and putting up banners in the wake of the recent Madras High court directives on this issue.

Speaking to reporters after a video-conference with concerned district collectors, election officers and SPs of Villupuram and Tirunelveli districts on the arrangements for the October 21 by-elections from Vikravandi and Nanguneri Assembly constituencies, Sahoo said the unauthorised posters and banners will be removed immediately.

Stating that the poll code of conduct was being strictly adhered to in both the constituencies, he said in Vikravandi nine flying squads in three shifts were keeping a watch, with a similar number of flying squads in Nanguneri.

Besides them, monitoring committees, two video crews in each and one video observing team were working in both the constituencies. The election observers will move in after nominations are filed for both the seats.
