CM's hard attack speech lacks political decorum, says DMK
Chennai: Shocked by the Chief Minister's hard attack on the party and its leader, the DMK has hit back saying his speech at Salem "lacked political decorum and was in poor taste".
"His attack on our party president Stalin was vicious and entirely unjustified. He referred to him again and again in singular terms in a very derogatory manner", said DMK spokesman TKS Elangovan, Rajya Sabha MP.
"While Stalin in his speech (at Salem last week) alleged that the CM was politically impotent as he was taking orders from the BJP regime at the Centre, the CM has branded Stalin as physically impotent and even referred to his (Stalin) trips to London as if to imply they were for some related treatment. This is lacking in political decorum and was in poor taste", said Elangovan.
He expressed anguish at the "harshness" in CM's speech and said the people "will now understand his standards".
Referring to the article in the AIADMK organ, 'Namadhu Amma', which had raised the question if Stalin would have the grace to accept the government's invitation extended to him and his MP sister Kanimozhi and attend the MGR centenary celebrations at Chennai (Sept 30), Elangovan said, "They have sent the invitation to Stalin through a RDO, ignoring that he (Stalin) is the Leader of Opposition. And so we must only presume that the invitation is an act of tokenism to follow the protocol that the local MLAs and MPs should be invited and we need not take it seriously. That being the case, why should their paper (Namadhu Amma) unnecessarily poke fun at us?"
