Arvind says BJP has bright future in AP

Vijayawada: BJP MP from Nizamabad, Dharmapuri Arvind, said on Thursday that the party has a bright future in Andhra Pradesh and could put up a good show in the next general elections in 2024.

Speaking to the media here, the MP sounded confident that the party would continue its political alliance with the Jana Sena and draw in other parties to the alliance if they are willing to do so.

“Though the ruling YSR Congress and the opposition Telugu Desam are rivals to the BJP, it would be clear as to who would stand with whom only after the poll notification is issued,” he said.

Maintaining that the BJP was committed to the causes of the people of AP and Telangana, the MP called upon the regional parties in the two states to give up their confrontationist styles. “This would affect the growth of both the states," he said, and wondered why Telangana chief minister Chandrashekar Rao was keeping quiet on the Polavaram dam’s height issue.

He pleaded that the issue of submergence of several mandals should not be politicized. There should be no trouble to the people of Telangana in relation to Polavaram dam’s height issue, he said.

Criticising Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu, the BJP MP said he used to be with the TD. So was the case with TRS chief and CM Chandrasekhar Rao, he noted.

Calling upon the BJP rank and file to work for the party in both AP and TS, the MP rebutted the criticism being levelled against the BJP on the recent raids by the CBI and ED. These agencies had, in the past, investigated Narendra Modi and even arrested (present Union home minister) Amit Shah. “These things happen,” he said.

The MP reminisced about his father’s association with Vijayawada and said he felt happy to visit the place of Vangaveeti family and “having the blessings of goddess Kanaka Durga.”
