VIJAYAWADA: The state government will release the second tranche of ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena’ (fee reimbursement) scheme as part of ‘Navaratnalu’ flagship programme on July 29.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will disburse amounts to about 10.97 lakh students across the state to the overall tune of Rs 693.81 crore. In the first tranche given in April Rs 671.45 crore was disbursed to 10.88 lakh students.

According to officials, the state government aimed to provide good education to the poor by way of full fee reimbursement. It has been taking steps to deposit the second tranche of fee reimbursement amount directly into the bank accounts of mothers, under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena.

They stated that amounts are deposited after every three month for poor students pursuing ITI, polytechnic, degree, B Tech, MBA, MCA, pharmacy and other courses. They said that the first instalment was transferred on April 19 for the 2020-21 academic year. They said that mothers would have to go to the colleges to pay the fees. This will help them to know about the child’s progress and about the college. On noticing any issues pertaining to the institution, then they can take it to the notice of the concerned officials or to the notice of the government.
