MK Stalin accuses CM of bid to find temporary plan for Neet
Chennai: Accusing the Edappadi K. Palaniswami government of trying to find a temporary solution for Neet to escape from the present crisis, DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Tuesday asserted that the state government should try to get President's nod for Tamil Nadu's Neet exemption bills.
Strongly opposing BJP state president Tamilisai Soundarrajan's opinion to give exemption for Neet for three years, Stalin said such an examination should not be held in Tamil Nadu at all. He called upon everyone cutting across party lines to join hands in the DMK's human chain protests on July 27 to defeat Neet, which symbolises dominance.
Palaniswami government who had woken up at the eleventh hour due to the stiff opposition of several parties, social movements and students is trying to do something to get out of the crisis. He charged the state ministers with bowing to their masters and begging with them to get at least one-year exemption for Neet. Such a move is against the spirit of the Neet exemption bills passed in Tamil Nadu Assembly, he pointed out.
"Why should the Centre hold examinations for state board students for admissions to the medical and dental colleges run with the financial resources of state government?" he asked. The Chief Minister who should have risen against snatching away of state's rights is begging with the Delhi rulers, he charged.
He also disputed the allegations that educational standard in the state is low in Tamil Nadu and said it was only a ploy to snatch away the state's rights. Hundreds of Tamil Nadu students are obtaining selection in IAS and IPS examinations and they are working as software engineers and doctors throughout the world, he said.
