Major parties intensify mass contact in Adilabad as EC begins work for assembly polls

ADILABAD: Major political parties like the Congress and BJP have intensified their campaign in the name of Gadapa Gadapaku while the BRS is undertaking village visits. Rival sides are listing the failures of their opponents in the run-up to the assembly elections.

A delegation from the Election Commission is currently touring the state and evaluating the state government’s preparations for the assembly polls.

Political leaders say the notification for elections will be issued in the next few months and the polls would be held around December.

Leaders of Congress and BJP are trying to visit every house under the Gadapa Gadapaku programme.

BJP leaders are explaining to the people the welfare and development schemes that were initiated and implemented by the Modi government. Congress leaders and ticket aspirants are explaining the promises the Congress party made in the Warangal farmers and Saroornagar declarations respectively during their campaign.

A senior Congress leader said that, during their ‘Gadapa Gadapaku Congress’ programme in villages, many people especially women were seeking crop loan waiver, housing and reducing the price of LPG cylinders if the party gained power.

We are trying to convince the people we would do these, as the government in Karnataka started implementing the promise of free travelling for women in the state-run buses.

The BRS party led by chief minister Chandrashekar Rao is already addressing public meetings and announcing sops and new schemes in various districts while inaugurating Integrated District Office Complexes and laying the foundations for various development works.

Within a month, KCR visited Nirmal and Mancherial; and would address a public meeting in Asifabad on June 30.
