Stating that the Lt Governor can act on his or her own judgement without the aid from the elected government and the council of ministers.

Puducherry: The ongoing tussle between the elected Congress government and Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has reached a new turning point with a note of clarification from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) regarding the powers of the administrators of the Union Territory of Puducherry clearly stating that the Lt Governor can act on his or her own judgement without the aid from the elected government and the council of ministers.

The letter from S.K. Rai of MHA, which was in reply to a series of letters sent by Puducherry chief minister V. Narayanasamy seeking clarification on the roles and duties of the Lt Governor and the elected government here was placed in public domain by the Lt Governor for 'clarity in the interest of better administration of Puducherry'.

“It is in response to several letters written by Cm to MHA. This is being placed in Public domain on general request by the media, officials and intelligentsia seeking clarity in the interest of better administration of Puducherry”, said Ms Bedi.
