Chennai: Congress senior E.V.K.S. Elangovan's resignation from the post of TNCC chief owning moral responsibility for his party's poor performance in May Assembly election, has evoked mixed reaction from the political parties here.
Though ally DMK was quick to term the incident as “entirely his decision” and declined to go into the subject, CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan said it was an internal affairs of the party. “It is that party's internal affairs. I have noting to comment," Mr. Mutharasan said. “The timing of Elangovan's resignation and also the reason are not correlating.
Although it is not known whether he was asked to resign or had stepped down on his own, Congress is not strong enough here,” BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said when sought for her reaction. Elangovan has been an acerbic critic of Dr Tamilisai and the BJP senior spontaneously retaliated to his comments.
