WARANGAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing an "action plan" to win power for the BJP in Telangana, which will have assembly polls later this year, a party leader has said.
"This apart, with a view to winning the elections, we would hold several programmes from booth to LS and assembly constituency levels from May 30," said the BJP district incharge Muralidhar Goud, at the district level meeting of the party held in Hanamkonda on Thursday.
Two major public meetings would be organised targeting the 15 parliament segments, he said.
The party’s district president Rao Padma said the BJP is the main opposition to the ruling BRS in Telangana, though, the people used to say in the past that the fight was between the KCR-party and the Congress. "The trend has changed," she said.
"Winning only one assembly seat in the past assembly elections, the BJP went on to win four parliament segments in TS and later increased its number of assembly seats to three by registering victories in Dubbaka and Huzurabad," she noted.
She said that in the GHMC elections, the BJP increased its share from four seats to 48, giving a massive blow to the ruling BRS party. "People are fed up with the corrupt rule of chief minister Chandrasekhar Rao and are ready to end the family rule in Telangana state in the coming assembly elections," she added.
