Goddeti Madhavi is youngest MP in Andhra Pradesh

Madhavi said she was confident of winning the election against the former minister but she did not expect to get such a huge majority.

Visakhapatnam: Ms Goddeti Madhavi, who won from the Araku Lok Sabha constituency on a YSR Congress ticket, will be the youngest Member of Parliament from the state. She won the April 11 election with a huge majority of 2,24,098 votes against former Union minister Kishore Chandra Deo.

Ms Madhavi is 26 years old and comes from a political family.

Her father, the late Goddeti Demudu, was a communist leader and former legislator. She joined the YSRC last year.

Mr Deo, a six-time MP, had recently defected to the Telugu Desam from the Congress. Incident-ally, his daughter, Ms Shruti Deo, was also in the race but lost the election.

Ms Madhavi said she was confident of winning the election against the former minister but she did not expect to get such a huge majority.

Her margin of victory was the fourth largest in the state. It is said that the YSRC wave had helped her get the huge majority. The constituency is in the grip of YSRC with Ms Kothapalli Geetha having won it for the party in 2014.

Ms Madhavi said she would work for the uplift of the constituency. She said, “When I met Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy today, he suggested that I work harder for the development of the people in Araku. The Agency area has been facing a difficult time for several years. There are no proper amenities or hospitals. I will work for the development of infrastructure and medical resources.”
