DMK meet celebrates victory, discusses Parliament strategy

Chennai: Amid the jubilant atmosphere created by the party's near-sweep of the Lok Sabha seats in the recent election in Tamil Nadu, DMK president M K Stalin on Saturday held a meeting of his newly elected MPs at the Anna Arivalayam, where their conduct in the Parliament reflecting the party ideals as also the vital interests of Tamil Nadu, were discussed.

Earlier in the day, he led the party MPs and MLAs in a rally to the memorials of Anna and Karunanidhi at the Marina.

Wreaths were placed at the two memorials amid slogans such as 'Thalabathiyin thalabathiye' (Chief's Chief), 'Ezhundhu va' (rise and come).

Party sources said a 'victory meet' may be held with the allies on June 3, the birth anniversary of Karunanidhi at Chennai.

At the Arivalayam meet, it was decided that T R Baalu will function as the leader of the party's Lok Sabha group while Kanimozhi will be the deputy leader and A Raja as the whip. The treasurer in this group will be S S Palanimanickam.

It was also decided that Tiruchi Siva will be the leader of the DMK Rajya Sabha group while TKS Elangovan will be the party whip.
