Bengaluru: Asserting that the state may face early polls, JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda said that his party was ready for polls anytime.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Thursday, Gowda said that both the Congress and BJP were conducting surveys on the 2018 elections and their prospects.

There are indications that the Assembly may be dissolved before its term is over, he said.

Gowda also said that All India Congress Committee President Mrs Sonia Gandhi has convened a meeting of secular parties in New Delhi on Friday. The meeting is being held to discuss the forthcoming Presidential elections. Mandya MP C.S. Puttaraju would be attending the meeting, the JD(S) will support any candidate fielded by the secular front which is opposing the BJP led NDA, Gowda said.

Answering a question on a complaint filed with the Income Tax department against his son and JD(S) state president H.D. Kumaraswamy on the amassing of wealth worth over Rs 20,000 crore,  Gowda said that he was aware of the development.

“I know that the state BJP is doing this. I have not reacted to the complaint and there is no need for Kumaraswamy to react on the either,'' he added.
