AICC session in Bengaluru? no decision yet
The All India Congress Committee is yet to accept the proposal of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee on hosting the AICC session in Bengaluru. There was a buzz that the AICC had finalised Bengaluru for hosting the session which assumes significance as AICC president Rahul Gandhi might be elevated to the president’s post. Sources in the party said that the KPCC, while requesting the AICC to hold the session in the city, had maintained that one of the big states where the party was in power was Karnataka and so, it should be allowed to host the plenary session of the party stretched over two or three days. "Since the assembly elections are due in a year, it would be nice to boost the morale of workers through the session and its messages. That’s why the KPCC had proposed this," sources explained.
However, the AICC did not respond to the KPCC's request. "Now, the party has Punjab in its kitty, so it may change its mind. They may decide to hold a day-long session somewhere near Delhi. If they go for the second option, then the AICC session might be held somewhere near the national capital," sources explained. With organisational elections likely to start sometime in July, the session may be held after October, a senior leader said.
