Kochi: The poll heat in the district increased on Monday with a total of 28 candidates filing their nominations after a dull opening day on Friday. “The filing of nominations will continue till April 29,”said an official. In Thrikkakkara constituency, Congress candidate P.T. Thomas and CPM’s Dr Sebastian Paul filed their nominations.
Mr Thomas has an annual income of Rs 3.78 lakh while his wife Uma Rs 1.6 lakh. He has a deposit of Rs 15.90 lakh in various financial institutions and his wife Rs 12.08 lakh. He declared gold worth 12.5 sovereigns in the name of his wife. He has Rs 3,000 cash in hand, 1.6 acres of farm land and 1.79 cent land in Idukki. He also has 2.43 acres of land in Palarivattom. He has taken a housing loan of Rs 36.08 lakh and owns an Innova car.
Mr Sebastian Paul has an annual income of Rs 6.76 lakh and his wife Lisamma Rs 8.34 lakh. Mr Paul has cash of Rs 2000 and deposit of Rs 16.77 lakh while his wife has Rs 2.59 lakh. He declared 10 sovereigns of gold in the name of his wife. He owns 2.76 acres of farm land in Ernakulam and has assets worth Rs 1.40 crore. He also owns a Hyundai car worth Rs 8.86 lakh. CPM candidates M. Swaraj and C.N. Sundaran (dummy) filed the nominations for Thripunithura.
