People’s fate unchanged under TRS, BJP rule: Congress

Satyanarayana said people of the state thought their lives will change after formation of separate Telangana state

KARIMNAGAR: Congress staged a “rasta roko” at Alugunur Chowrasta in Karimnagar on Saturday demanding that state and central governments decrease prices of petrol, diesel and gas cylinders, apart from electrical charges.

Led by Karimnagar district unit Congress president K. Satyanarayana, party activists also burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Satyanarayana said people of the state thought their lives will change after formation of separate Telangana state. Similarly, the entire country believed BJP, which promised two crore jobs to unemployed youth across the country, return of black money stowed abroad and depositing ₹ 15 lakh in every citizen’s account.

But to their disappointment, neither BJP at centre nor TRS in state kept their promises. Both parties have betrayed people and are now burdening them with additional taxes.

The district president said Congress party will continue its agitations against both TRS and BJP governments, until they reduce prices of fuels and electricity charges.

Women’s wing district president Karra Satya Prasanna, S.L. Goud, K. Ravinder Reddy, M. Ramana Reddy, N. Ravindra Chari, G. Basavaiah, Ch. Anantha Reddy, P. Venkat and A. Vinay Kumar were among those who participated in the protests.
