Kadapa: Telugu Desam manages to end Kadapa dissidence
Kadapa: With the effective role of top party leaders, dissidence among cadre of Telugu Desam has fizzled out in Kadapa.
When the party announced its candidates for the polls, groups from some constituencies expressed their opposition to it. Minister Adinarayana Reddy (Adi) and party district president Srinivasa Reddy (Vasu), however, played a key role in ensuring that the party workers were pacified in consultation with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
Congress leader from Kadapa Ahmadullah and his son Ashraf joined TD around four months back without the consent of local district leaders. The party high command accepted their entry and the Chief Minister appointed Mr Asharaf as in-charge for Kadapa segment. The dissidents, at a meeting, deliberated rejecting his appointment.
Mr Balisetty Hariprasad, senior Balija leader and district party general secretary, had been seeking Kadapa ticket for a long time. He was named Annamaiah Urban Development (AUDA) chairman. Muslim leaders including MP aspirant for Kadapa Adinarayana Reddy opposed the candidature of Ashraf. The Chief Ministers agreed with minister's proposal and changed the candidate as Mr Ameerbabu, and assured the former minister Ahmadullaha and his son a better position in party. Now Ashraf is jointly campaigning with Ameer. Another leader and 2014 election contestant Durga Prasad has also been assured a position in the State party cadre.
Dissident leader from Kadapa Assembly constituency Sudha Durga Prasad was nominated to TD state committee. On Monday night, according to a note released by the party.
Kamalapuram has been a problem for the party where senior leader Veera Siva Reddy expected party ticket but TD announced the name of Putta Narasimha Reddy. Veera Siva met his supporters and opposed the move and decided to contest as an independent. Minister Adi Narayana Reddy, MP C.M. Ramesh and Srinivasa Reddy held discussions with him and spoke to the Chief Minister over phone who assured him the MLC option. Since then, Veera Siva has been participating in the campaign with his cadre.
Party announced Ramesh Reddy as candidate for Rayachoti where senior leader and former MP Sugavasi Palakondrayudu expected the ticket for his son Prasada Rao. The issue was resolved with a nominated post. Prasad has nominated as TTD board member. Recently in Rayachoti election campaign CM assured MLC for Palakondrayudu on dais. Prasad is joined with Ramesh for election campaigning.
Rajampeta has also become a pain with the party announcing former MLC Batyala Chengalra-yulu as candidate. Former minister Pasupu-leti Brahmayya and another leader Atikari Venkatayya opposed. Batyala is resident of Tirupati, but the party noted that he is the right person to fight strong YSRC candidate Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy. The minister and party president settled the issue.
Proddutur constituency is faced dissidence with party senior leader Varada Rajula Reddy elected as MLA for six time. Mr Mallela Linga-reddy did not get ticket in 2014 and was appointed AP Civil Supplies Corporation chairman. Nandyala Varada Rajula Reddy contested and was defeated.
