Hyderabad: People fighting for the rights of the disabled filed their nomination papers on Monday in Secunderabad, Mahbubnagar, Chevella and other constituencies in protest against the failure of government to give political reservation to the physically challenged.

For the Secunderabad constituency, a group of specially-abled came along with the nominee and gave their nomination to the Election Commission on Monday.
Earlier, the All-India Disabled Rights Forum declared that it would be contesting in the upcoming parliamentary elections, four constituencies in Telangana and eight constituencies from Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Kolli Nageswara Rao, national president, AIDRF, who filed his papers from the Secunderabad constituency said: “We do not have a proper political voice to represent us. We are tired of appealing and have decided to contest and solve problems on our own. We are better off than any other politicians and we can solve people's problems.”

According to the census, there are more than 10 lakh physically challenged voters and if their families are taken into consideration they have around 40 lakh voters in the state. In the city alone, there are more than one lakh such voters.
