Chennai: AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Saturday alleged that Opposition leader M.K. Stalin was trying to split the ruling party by “indulging in horse-trading” with 10 to 15 MLAs asking them to switch sides to the faction led by O. Panneerselvam.

Reacting to the allegation, Stalin said the comments by Mr Dhinakaran does not warrant his response and that he is not willing to “lower my dignity.”

In a brief interaction with reporters on Saturday, Dhinakaran, who is contesting the Dr RK Nagar bypoll as candidate of AIADMK (Amma), alleged that Stalin has been in touch with MLAs from the AIADMK.

“Stalin has contacted 10 to 15 MLAs from our party and asked them to jump the ship to OPS camp. He has also told them that his party would fulfill their wishes. The DMK and OPS camp has colluded to weaken us. This plan will never work,” Dhinakaran alleged. The former MP also said the Election Commission did not deal the issue with “fairness.”
