Chennai: Days after finalising their alliance with DMDK, People’s Welfare Alliance constituents MDMK general secretary Vaiko and VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan on Friday evening met Tamil Maanila Congress founder G.K. Vasan on the sidelines of a marriage reception in the city.
According to sources, Mr Vaiko and Mr Thirumavalavan held discussion with Mr Vasan over the political developments and invited him again to join their new alliance with DMDK.
The meeting has taken place a day after Vaiko renewed the invitation for Mr Vasan to join the DMDK-PWA alliance. A senior PWA leader said that DMDK too was holding talks with Mr Vasan. “It is up to Mr Vasan to decide,” he said, pointing out that Mr Vasan has said that he would take a call on alliance by end of this month after completing his constituency tour.
A senior leader of TMC said that the party was open to an alliance with AIADMK and they are awaiting call from the ruling party. After the Congress sealed its pact with DMK and reportedly pitching for over 60 seats, TMC seems to be in a spot as they don’t want to get settled for seats lesser than what Congress would
get. TMC’s only ray of hope for a good bargaining with AIADMK is the latter’s decision to take back Sarathkumar’s AISMK into its fold.
