We don't approve of murder politics: Sitaram Yechury
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Monday said his party did not approve of murder politics.
He was reacting to questions on the brutal murder of two youth congress workers allegedly by CPM workers in Kasargod district. Those involved in the incident have been expelled from the party. Stringent action will be taken against party workers indulging in such criminal activities, he added.
Yechury said the CPM had three objectives for the coming Lok Sabha polls. One is to defeat the BJP, increase the strength of Left parties including CPM in the Lok Sabha and ensure an alternative secular government. “It is our duty to work for the secular government after the elections. However, the nature and character of the government would be clear only after the elections. In 1996 the CPM had supported the united front government minus Congress. In 2004 the Left supported the Congress led UPA Government from outside.
The CPM leader said there would be no seat sharing with Congress in Bengal. The Bengal state committee had not discussed the matter. At the national level the CPM has not entered into any alliance. The CPM will not take part in the meeting of opposition parties to finalize common minimum programme. Such programmes should be finalized only after elections.
