Hyderabad: Four TRS candidates and MIM nominee Mirza Riyaz ul Hasan Efendi, the corporator from Dabeerpura, on Monday filed their nomination papers for the March 12 Legislative Council elections
The TRS has nominated home minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Yegge Mallesham, Seri Subhash Reddy and Satyavathi Rathod. The candidates paid tribute at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial at Gun Park before filig their nomination papers before Assembly Secretary V. Narasimhaaharyulu.
TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, minister Ch Malla Reddy, legislators Kale Yadaiah and G. Vivekananda backed Mr Mallesham and while Mr Subhash Reddy’s nomination was supported by Minister Vemula Prashant Reddy, and legislators T. Harish Rao, Padma Devender Reddy and Chanti Kranti Kiran.
Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, MLAs Redya Naik, T. Rajaiah and Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar supported the candidature of Ms Rathod, while Mr Mahmood Ali had the support of minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, MLAs Kaleru Venkatesh, Danam Nagender and Maganti Gopinath.
The MIM’s Mr Effendi, who belongs to the Shia community, had started his political career with the Telugu Desam before switching sides in 2009. He was first elected corporator from Noor Khan Bazaar in 2009. The ward was later merged with Dabeerpura.
