Marri Chenna Reddy’s birth centenary on December 29

Hyderabad: Former chief minister and Congress strongman Marri Chenna Reddy’s birth centenary celebrations will be held at Shilpakala Vedika in the city on December 29.

On Tuesday, Chenna Reddy's son and former MLA M. Shashidhar Reddy spoke to media at the Fateh Maidan Club and said that Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, and Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan of Telangana state and Mr Bandaru Dattatreya of Himachal Pradesh are likely to attend the event.

Mr Reddy said that the Chenna Reddy National Award for sustainable development will be given on the occasion.

Mr K. Rosaiah, former AP chief minister and governor, said, “Chenna Reddy never compared himself with others. I feel very fortunate to have worked with him.”

Former MP V. Hanumantha Rao said that Chenna Reddy used to discuss all the issues and even gave opportunities to his rivals. He called Chenna Reddy the best chief minister in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.

Former minister J. Geetha Reddy said Chenna Reddy had encouraged her in politics and helped her in achieving things. She said that he never ran behind power but all the positions came to him.
