Oommen Chandy plans extensive parleys with A' leaders
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy is planning to hold talks with the leaders of his core group in all the 14 districts in the state to boost their morale in the wake of the humiliation meted out to the ‘A’ camp by the AICC in the appointments of the DCC presidents. Mr Chandy is insisting on free and fair organisational elections hoping to wrest control of the KPCC. Mr Chandy has been fuming after Mr Ramnesh Chennithala and Mr V.M. Sudheeran along with senior Congress leader A. K. Antony ditched him on the DCC chiefs' issue.
He has not paid heed to Mr Antony's request to co-operate with the party proceedings. A senior Congress leader told DC that Mr Chandy will not 'speak' against the party, but will 'act.' "Chandy has been holding talks with his supporters across the state and has refused to co-operate with Chennithala and Sudheeran as he feels that they have cheated him," he said.
AICC general secretary in charge of the state, Mukul Wasnik, who will attend a Congress meeting here on December 28, may try to pacify Mr Chandy, who wants the AICC to keep its promise of holding the organisational elections at the earliest. Mr Chandy wants to show the central leadership that without him the party will not grow in the state.
