Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj predicts landslide victory for BJP in Rajasthan

Rajasthan went to assembly polls on Saturday

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday claimed that BJP would win the assembly elections in Rajasthan ‘hands down’.

Mr Chouhan who ended his two-day campaign for BJP in Rajasthan on Friday evening, said that he could sense a strong undercurrent in favour of the party in Rajasthan during his electioneering at many places in the desert state.

“It will be a landslide victory for BJP in Rajasthan”, he said.

The chief minister addressed over a dozen election rallies and held an equal number of road shows in several assembly constituencies in Rajasthan to drum up support for BJP during his recent whirlwind tour to the state.

Rajasthan went to assembly polls on Saturday.

Mr Chouhan who visited Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh early on Saturday morning told the waiting reporters at the shrine that BJP is going to fare extremely well in the elections in all the five poll-bound states including Madhya Pradesh.

He hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the latter’s ‘Panauti Modi’ jibe targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that it clearly indicated Mr Gandhi’s mental bankruptcy.

“One loses one’s wisdom when one is destined to face hardships”, he said while quoting a couplet from Ram Charit Manas, authored by Tulsidas.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress unit president and former chief minister Kamal Nath convened a meeting of party candidates in the just-concluded assembly polls in the state here on Sunday to get feedback from them on the performance of the grand old party in the polls.

Mr Chouhan has been holding discussions with the BJP candidates in the polls and senior party leaders for the last four days to get feedback on his party’s performance in the polls.
