Sunitha Laxma Reddy is BRS' Narsapur Candidate; Nampally, Goshamahal Pending

Hyderabad: The BRS on Wednesday ended the suspense over its nominee for the Narsapur constituency by picking former minister V. Sunitha Laxma Reddy as its candidate. Soon after the decision was taken, Sunitha Laxma Reddy, currently
the chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, was handed over the B Form
by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

So far, the BRS has selected candidates for 117 seats, with the last two,
for the Goshamahal and Nampally constituencies, pending.

Narsapur was one of the constituencies for which the BRS could not announce
its candidate in August due to differences among party leaders in the
constituency, with incumbent MLA Ch Madan Reddy and Sunitha Laxma Reddy both staking their claims for the party ticket.

The party had been making efforts to bring the two leaders together and the
efforts paid off on Wednesday.

The issue was resolved at a meeting led by BRS working president K.T. Rama
Rao and the party’s core committee members, including minister T. Harish
Rao. Madan Reddy was assured that he would be contesting the next Parliament
elections as the BRS candidate from Medak. He will be replacing Kotha
Prabhakar Reddy, the current MP who was nominated, to contest the Dubbak
constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Chandrashekar Rao, expressing satisfaction at the outcome of the meeting,
said: “Madan Reddy is a senior party leader and a close associate for the
past 35 years. I am also happy that he has taken up the responsibility to
work for and ensure Sunitha Laxma Reddy’s victory in the Assembly elections.
I am happy that he joined me in handing over the B Form to Sunitha Laxma
Reddy. I thank him for his support and compliment him for putting the party
first.”
