For MLA Tickets, Youth Congress Leaders Threaten to Resign En Masse

HYDERABAD: Youth Congress leaders in Telangana state threatened to resign en masse from the party to protest against denial of tickets to youth leaders for
contesting Assembly polls. Youth Congress leaders recalled that the party
high command had allocated 3 to 7 tickets to youth during the previous
Assembly elections, but this time they were being ignored.

Angered at this, Youth Congress leaders holding positions as district party
presidents and executive committee members have threatened to quit from
their posts and the party enmasse.

Following this, the Congress high command sprung into action to pacify Youth
Congress leaders. Telangana Youth Congress president Shiva Sena Reddy was
called to Delhi to discuss and resolve the issue. Reddy rushed to Delhi on
Wednesday to meet the party's top leaders.

Party sources said that Shiva Sena Reddy is seeking a ticket from Wanaparthy
constituency. But former minister G. Chinna Reddy is also in the race for
this seat and the party high command is reportedly considering fielding
Chinna Reddy again from this seat.

Shiv Sena Reddy is demanding ticket from any of the Assembly constituency in
undivided Mahabubnagar district, if Wanaparthy is not possible. Similarly,
Youth Congress leaders are demanding tickets from Amberpet and Devarakonda
arguing that they have undertaken several protest programmes against the
failures of the BRS government in the last five years, faced police lathis,
cases, went to jail and garnered the support of youth and unemployed in
Telangana for Congress.

The Youth Congress leaders were supposed to hold a meeting in Gandhi Bhavan
on Wednesday to decide their future course of action. However, the meeting
was put off after Shiva Sena Reddy was summoned to Delhi by the Congress
high command.
