Hyderabad: Union tourism minister G. Kishan Reddy launched the Jaitra Devices and Systems LLP's first ‘made in India’ product, a bipolar air disinfectant and purifier, here on Sunday.
Dr G.S.K. Velu, chairman, Trivitron Healthcare Group, Kasu Prasad Reddy, chairman Maxivision Group of Eye Hospitals, and Dr Bollineni Bhaskar Rao, founder, MD & CEO of KIMS Hospital were present.
Kishan Reddy said, "The government is encouraging 'make in India' products. During the pandemic, our country’s manufacturers extended support by supplying PPE kits, oxygen concentrators, ventilators and more. Anti-Covid-19 devices like bipolar air disinfectants and purifiers will help us breathe clean air free from viruses.
He stressed on the lessons learnt during the pandemic. "We can manufacture anything. Local entrepreneurs are encouraged under the Make in India concept. Many devices are being manufactured in India. Some Rs 40,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore worth of medical devices are imported every year. Why should we do so? Instead, manufacture it. Medical devices should be manufactured if required incentives are given.”
He also appreciated the role doctors played during the pandemic and noted that the doctor count is low compared to the population.
