Flood-hit stop N Chandrababu Naidu's convoy
Guntur: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu faced the ire of the flood victims at Reddigudem in Guntur district on Saturday. They obstructed him when he went there to inspect the flood-affected areas.
The protesters slammed Mr Naidu for not releasing aid to Reddigudem.
Earlier, Mr. Naidu conducted aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Piduguralla, Macharla, Narasaraopeta, Chilaka-luripeta, Sattenapalli, Bapatla and other areas.
As per the schedule, the helicopter was to land at Guntur to go to Krosuru to inspect the flood-affected areas there and Mr Naidu was also scheduled to join a review meeting with officials at Guntur.
However, Mr. Naidu directed the pilot to land the chopper at Reddigudem where the railway tracks were totally washed away.
He boarded the car of Guntur collector Kantilal Dande and went to Reddigudem railway track. He inquired about the track restoration works with the railway department engineers.
The CM has asked the railway department to use modern technology for the early completion of restoration works and assured about providing all type of help to the railway department by the state government for restarting train services between Hyderabad-Guntur.
Mr. Naidu further went into Reddigudem but the locals, led by CPM leader G. Chalamaiah, squatted on the road before the the CM’s convoy.
The protestors alleged that no official came to rescue them when their village was waterlogged and further faulted him for absence of aid.
The police led by Piduguralla CI M. Hanumantha Rao rushed to the spot and forcibly removed the protesters to give way to the CM.
Mr. Naidu inspected the collapsed bridge, damaged houses and farmlands and directed Mr. Dande to provide aid to the victims with immediate effect.
Mr. Naidu went to Dhulipalla and inspected the ongoing railway track restoration works.
He further inspected the damaged Krosuru-Andaluru road, Yedduvagu inundated farmlands, roads and farmlands at Pakalapadu, Peesapadu and adjacent areas and interacted with the flood victims and assured them providing all possible aid without fail.b
