TRS trying to divert attention from liquor scam, allege Congress leaders

Hyderabad: The Congress on Wednesday alleged that the state government had deliberately mishandled the BJP MLA T. Raja Singh episode as it wanted to divert attention from the Delhi liquor scam, where the BJP has claimed that members of the Chief Minister’s family are involved.

TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy alleged that the TRS government had ‘created’ a chaotic atmosphere so that the liquor scam is relegated to the background.

“They have been only with the intention of watering down the scam. But people are closely watching the inept administration and its partisan approach,” he said in a tweet.

Several other party leaders also demanded that the ongoing CBI probe into the scam should be extended to cover Telangana.

AICC programmes implementation committee chairman, A Maheshwar Reddy, pointed out that it was BJP, which had alleged the involvement of MLC K. Kavitha in the scam. “Similarly, it is imperative to investigate the alleged links of K.T. Rama Rao with Phoenix company,” he said.

M. Kodanda Reddy, national vice-president of Kisan Congress, wanted the Centre to make public all details pertaining to the scam, including the alleged involvement of Kavitha. “Even Amit Shah was silent on the issue during his speech at Munugode,” he said.
