Hyderabad: The TRS lambasted the Congress for creating a ruckus at the public hearing for the Kaleshwaram project with the malafide intention of obstructing the project.
Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao said Congress leaders were “behaving like goondas” and atacking farmers and those supporting new projects at public hearings across the state.
He said the Kaleshwaram project, once completed, would become a lifeline for the state and government was committed to completing it in time, come what may.
Mr Rao criticised Congress leader D. Sridhar Babu for trying to obstruct the public hearing in Peddapally by bringing rowdies.
“People are supporting the project. The Congress is trying to obstruct the hearings. They still trying to obstruct the project by filing cases. Now they are targeting the public hearings. This shows how the Congress is against projects, which are being taken up to irrigate one crore acres,” Mr Rao said.
