DMK to join farmers\' protest over four legislations

Urging people to hoist black flags in front of homes on July 27, the DMK will also launch a signature campaign to send appeals to the Centre

The DMK would join hands with the farmers protesting against the four legislations – Electricity (Amendment) Act 2020, Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020, Agricultural Products Marketing Act 2020 and Agricultural Price Guarantee and Agricultural Service Contract Protection Act 2020 – that are proposed to be enacted by the BJP government at the Centre.

The All-India Farmers Struggle Coordination Committee, which had called for the protest, had explained that the four legislations would lead to the farming community losing their livelihood and impact on the common people, DMK president M K Stalin said in a statement.

Besides urging people to hoist black flags in front of homes on July 27, the DMK would also launch a signature campaign to send appeals to the Centre to repeal the four pieces of legislation.
