Caretaker CM favours president’s rule
Bengaluru: Caretaker Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said he personally favoured imposition of President's rule in Karnataka as the BJP too would find it difficult to prove its numbers in the assembly. Talking to reporters here at his home office, Krishna, Mr Kumaraswamy said, "It will be very difficult for the BJP to run the government in future." He said his next task after losing the trust vote is to focus on building the JD(S) from the grassroots. "I have to win the confidence of voters," he explained.
Mr Kumaraswamy highlighted the achievements of his government in the last one year and said several developmental activities have been taken up. "Despite reports of political instability every day, we achieved several milestones. We do not know what will happen in the state in the next few days but officials have to continue their work whichever party runs the government."
Recalling the pro-farmer measures of the coalition, he said the final GO has been approved on the Debt Relief Act. "Landless labourers can apply and avail the facility by applying under the Act. I have already asked cooperative banks to issue an advertisement about this Act as soon as possible. It will be applicable to farmers with income of Rs 1.21 lakh. Within 90 days they will have to approach the debt officers for relief," he clarified. The CM also hosted high tea for senior bureaucrats in the government.
