M Vincent has no right to be MLA, says V S Achuthanandan

He asked the Congress leadership to seek his resignation at the earliest.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, Administrative Reforms Commission chairman, on Monday said that Mr M. Vincent, MLA, had no right to continue as legislator following the rape charges levelled against him by a homemaker. He asked the Congress leadership to seek his resignation at the earliest. If the Congress considered itself as an organisation with some dignity, then it should make the MLA resign. A grave allegation has been levelled against the legislator and it was the responsibility of that party to take cognisance of the matter and initiate disciplinary action, he said.

“Once such allegations come up against members of the party, then action must follow. It should have been done in the beginning itself,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the CPM central committee meeting in Delhi. When asked about the conspiracy angle, he said all allegations should be brought within the purview of the probe.
