Prevent crime, says Congress

HYDERABAD: The Congress expressed deep concern over the escalating incidents of crime in the state, particularly in Hyderabad, and demanded the resignation of home minister Mohd Mahmood Ali for negligence.

TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin said at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday that the BRS government had failed to prioritise crime prevention but had focused on superficial enhancements such as corporate-style police stations and new vehicles.

He said the "friendly policing" did not benefit the general public but had emboldened criminals to commit brazen crimes without the fear of being apprehended.

Nizamuddin said many BRS leaders were involved in crime. “The home minister did not even issue a statement regarding these incidents, nor did he meet with the families of the victims," Nizamuddin stated and added that Mahmood Ali was busy with inaugurating police stations and attending other functions.
