No constructive debate takes place in Assembly: Tamilisai Soundararajan

She said she would also encourage the party second level leaders to follow such practices.

Palani: Instead of having a constructive discussion on issues affecting the common people in the state assembly, Dravidian parties were blaming each other on Katchatheevu and Lokoyukta issues during the assembly session, said Tamilisai Soundararajan, the BJP state president.

The students belonging to marginalised communities were denied admission under RTE Act, but the state government is remaining silent on this issue, she said while interacting with reporters on the sidelines of the BJP's state executive committee on Friday.

“The state government should release a white paper on how many students have got admission in the schools under RTE Act,” she said. She also condemned the government's policy decision in doing way with direct election for mayor post in the local bodies. Tamilisai also urged the state government to immediately take steps to prevent banks from harassing the students who have availed education loans from them.

When asked about the political parties protesting in Kerala demanding to construct a new dam in Mullaiperiyar, she said that the Tamil Nadu Congress president E.V.K.S. Elangovan should question his counterpart in Kerala for acting against the interests of Tamil people.

Sharing her experience on visits the houses of marginalised people in the last few days, Tamilisai said it helped her to learn the problems they are facing in their daily life. She also has made it a part of her regular schedule to visit the houses of downtrodden community. She said she would also encourage the party second level leaders to follow such practices.
