Golden age' gone, Governor P Sathasivam now lauds LDF
Thiruvananthapuram: Governor P. Sathasivam, who termed the UDF rule as a golden era in the state’s history about six months ago, on Friday said that the LDF regime has come to power securing a big mandate against corruption, favouritism and nepotism.
“My government has been voted to power by the people of Kerala with great expectations and high hopes. The verdict reflects the strong displeasure of the voters against anti-people policies, atrocities on women and weakening of secularism...” Mr Sathasivam said in his address to the Assembly on Friday.
“Let me take this opportunity to affirm that my government will pursue a proactive policy of zero tolerance to corruption that will be visible and felt,” he said. On February 5, the Governor had termed the last five years of UDF rule as a golden age.
The same was the case with the liquor policy. On Friday, the Governor said “my government is of the view that restrictions on consumption of liquor have not yielded the desired positive impact.” He had said in February that the UDF's liquor policy was aimed at achieving the vision to build a liquor-free society and eradicate drug abuse.”
