It's second anniversary of CM's arrogance: Ramesh Chennithala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has taken Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to task for his 'dictatorial' style of functioning and ordering mediapersons and the people 'out of sight.' Listing out the 'anti-people policies' of Mr Vijayan and the LDF government which is celebrating its second anniversary, Mr Chennithala said Mr Vijayan's first order to the mediapersons to 'get out' was not given on the spur of the moment but was deliberate. All his actions have been characterised by his arrogant attitude, he said.
"He displayed this attitude during serious situations like cyclone Ockhi, viral fever, self-financing college admissions and NH development when the hapless people were harassed," he alleged in a statement. "Earlier, the Kerala chief minister was accessible to the people and the media. But Pinarayi even cancelled the weekly cabinet briefings," said Mr Chennithala.
"Pinarayi invites the media when he wants to tell it something. Otherwise, he shouts 'get out,'" Mr Chennithala said and added that the home department under Mr Pinarayi had failed utterly to maintain law and order with rising numbers of custodial deaths, looting, murders, atrocities against women and house breaks. After the LDF government came to power, nine custodial deaths had happened. "This is a record for a government in the state. Police officials shout slogans in uniform due to politicisation of the force. Instead of ensuring the safety of the people, the policemen are sowing seeds of hatred among them," Mr Chennithala added.
