MK Stalin is opposition leader

Chennai: The DMK took a big step in power transition in declaring party treasurer MK Stalin as its floor leader thus elevating him to the status of Opposition leader. Stalin’s elevation came in a meeting of party MLAs chaired by party president M. Karunanidhi at the DMK headquarters here on Tuesday. Stalin’s elevation makes it clear that Karunanidhi will from now on guide the party from outside.

At the MLAs meeting held immediately after the chief executive committee meeting, it was also decided that principal secretary K. Duraimurugan will be the deputy leader of the party, R. Chakrapani the chief whip and K. Pitchandi the deputy whip.
