Gowri Amma adds icing on Pinarayi Vijayan's cake
Alappuzha: Chief Minister-designate Pinarayi Vijayan visited JSS leader K.R. Gowri Amma at her house at Chathanad in Alappuzha on Tuesday noon and had lunch with her. As the visit was pre-arranged, her house and premises were crowded with CPM and JSS supporters and mediapersons.
Mr Vijayan came along with his ministerial-designate colleagues E.P. Jayarajan, T.M. Thomas Isaac and G. Sudhakaran. As Tuesday was Mr Vijayan’s 72nd birthday, Gowriamma surprised him by cutting a cake with his pictures in five different poses. Before leaving for Valiyachudukad to offer tributes to the Punnapra- Vayalar martyrs after spending half-an-hour in Gowriamma’s house, he told reporters that Gowriamma, 97, would be suitably rewarded by the CPM.
It may be recalled that the LDF had not allotted any seat to her party after she joined hands with it in the Assembly elections. “We will discuss what post Gowriamma has to be given. She has been invited for the oath-taking ceremony on Wednesday,” he said. Mr Pinarayi, after he was chosen to head the government, has been sending the right signals by calling on the political stalwarts to seek their advice and blessings.
