Is BSY's free run as CM candidate over?

In a further blow to the party, and in response to the rumblings against the state unit chief Mr Yeddyurappa's style of functioning.

Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is heading for uncertain times post the drubbing in the recent bypolls, as a group of rebels are going ahead with plans for Thursday’s BJP Bachao meeting that has the blessings of staunch B.S. Yeddyurappa critic and Opposition Leader in the State Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa, who has confirmed his participation.

In a further blow to the party, and in response to the rumblings against the state unit chief Mr Yeddyurappa’s style of functioning, the BJP’s national president Amit Shah, said to be “totally upset,” is reported to be stepping into the picture on the selection of candidates for the crucial 2018 Assembly polls that had, until the bypoll debacle, looked like a done deal for the BJP.

Whether this means that the wings of the Karnataka BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa are being clipped or whether it means that Mr Shah is being forced to review the nomination of the former chief minister as the party’s chief ministerial candidate is unclear.

“All is certainly not well in the Karnataka unit”, a top BJP leader told Deccan Chronicle.
