Tamil Nadu polls: Jayalalithaa files nomination from R K Nagar

Hundreds of enthusiastic party workers and people greeted her en route to the electoral office.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa filed her nominations this afternoon from R K Nagar constituency here for the May 16 Assembly election.

The 68-year-old Jayalalithaa is a sitting MLA of the constituency. Hundreds of enthusiastic party workers and people greeted her en route to the electoral office before she filed her nomination.

Jayalalithaa was accompanied by her confidante Sasikala as she arrived at the Tondiarpet Zonal Office here a little past noon to file her nomination papers with the authorities.

Clad in her favourite green saree, she was all smiles, and waved to the people and party workers. All other AIADMK candidates are expected to file their nomination papers soon.
